Message from WRTC Judges
Hello from the 2026 WRTC Judging Committee. The Judging Committee’s function is to assure that the order of finish represents entrants’ performances, where all credited contacts are those that are accurate, rule-compliant, and fairly made. Established software is used to cross check and score the logs. If all contacts of all entrants are made ethically and fairly, the computer-adjudicated order-of-finish would be all that is needed.
A radio contest competitor’s result can be impacted by the actions of other competitors, casual participants, and friends. The Judging Committee is charged with insuring credited contacts are ethical and fair to an extent greater than in other contests. The mechanism for doing this involves not crediting those QSOs that are not. Although software identifies the questionable claimed contacts, human intervention is employed to evaluate them.
Please Encourage Fair Competition
The fact that you have qualified to be a WRTC competitor signifies that you are one of the top operators. Please help maintain this distinction by taking steps to stop or at least minimize any need for the Judging Committee to disallow any claimed contacts. This is a contentious and unpleasant process, and we wish to avoid it for any log.
Even if friends or supporters are able to identify you from your voice or operating style, please encourage them to not favor you when they make QSOs. Please encourage them to work everybody with the same effort as they make to work you. Ask them not to work you with additional callsigns. Ask them to not selectively spot you on any networks. Please help minimize the need for the Committee to excise contacts that result from any of these types of actions.
Please Communicate with Your Friends, and Ask Them to Let You Compete Based on Your Capabilities and Not on Your Personal Friendships.
Do this through communication with your club or organization before the event.
We are committed to ensuring that the announced winners deserve the full respect of all the competitors.
We respect the effort you have put into qualifying, and look forward to interacting with you in Wyboston Lakes this summer.
