About Us

The wrtc.info website was started by Bjørn H. Bergheim, LB1GB, around 2006 as a place to retain information about the World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC) events. WRTC events are held every 2 to 6 years (typically every 4 years). Each WRTC is run by a different group of volunteers on a one-time basis. Much of the history was being lost as websites were decommissioned after an event. Bjorn was joined by Randy Thompson, K5ZD, around 2009 to help with the site.

All material related to past WRTC events is welcome. We are especially looking for pictures, videos (or links to videos), and stories of participants’ experiences. Send inquiries or materials to wrtcinfo@wwrof.org.

In 2025, the World Wide Radio Operators Foundation (WWROF) took on the responsibility to maintain and operate the site. WWROF handles the domain name registration and hosting costs. This will enable wrtc.info to continue to store the history of each unique WRTC event.

The World Wide Radio Operators Foundation is a non-profit, donor-supported organization dedicated to improving the skills of amateur radio operators around the world, utilizing education, competition, advancement of technology and scientific research, promoting international friendship and goodwill, and preparing them to better serve society in times of communications need. In addition, WWROF provides major assistance, including the infrastructure for log submissions, log checking, reporting, and other support services for many popular radio contests.
