Statement from WRTC Sanctioning Committee Regarding WRTC2026 Rescoring

The WRTC Sanctioning Committee has reviewed the report of the WRTC2026 Judging Committee and subsequent actions of the WRTC2026 Organizing Committee and have the following comments.

First, we acknowledge and appreciate the hard work that the Judging Committee has put into these findings. This has been a long and difficult process, and the amount of effort has been extraordinary. New tools and procedures have been developed that will be put in place for future WRTC events.

Second, we appreciate the input of many third parties, who, through their independent analysis, uncovered some log anomalies which were investigated thoroughly by the Judging Committee. The power of crowdsourcing and open logs allowed certain situations to be revealed. It is our understanding that a number of other teams and callsigns were brought to the Committee’s attention during the review. Each was examined, and none resulted in an adverse finding.

Third, we endorse and support the actions of the WRTC2026 OC. While these actions may seem extreme, they are necessary to preserve the reputation and integrity of the event. Congratulations to the rightful champions and medal winners.

While it is disappointing that some teams were disqualified for violating the rules, we hope that the disqualifications will serve as a notice to teams in future WRTC events that violations of the rules in any form will not be tolerated.

Finally, we hope that participants who attended WRTC2026 will remember the event for its excellent organization and hospitality rather than the actions of a few teams.
