WRTC2002 On the Road - Everett, Washington - Northwest DX Convention

WRTC2002 received generous financial support from USA and Canadian hams attending the 2001 Northwest DX Convention held in Everett, Washington the weekend of July 21-22. WRTC2002 USA West representative Dennis Motschenbacher K7BV met with the 100+ British Canada, Montana, Oregon, and Washington attendees to talk about the upcoming competition in Finland in July, 2002. Several competitors and referees from the 1990, 1996, and 2000 WRTC events enthusiastically supported Dennis's work.

Steve K7LXC and Ward N0AX, two of the Founding Fathers of the World Radiosport Team Championships, live in the area and were present. They were vocal about the need to support the continuation of the games.

The WRTC banner was raised in the presentation room throughout the day while at night it was prominently displayed at the DX Banquet Dinner. The large crowd attended the Sunday AM Breakfast gathering also saw the banner holding a place of honor amongst them. The WRTC2002 Organizing Committee would like to thank the Western Washington DX Club for their kind support of our fund raising efforts.

The WRTC2002 budget is calculated to be USD 200K. The Organizing Committee was able to raise USD 100K before committing to the event. The other USD 100K is being coillected at conventions, contest and DX meetings as well as directly from amateur radio operators through individual efforts by WRTC2002 organizers and their supporters. .
